FLEXIMAKE

MY ROLE

UX Design
UI Design

Five days design sprint project on the design for websites, by using lean UX to achieve our goals.

SUMMARY

I lead UX and UI designs for FLEXIMAKE websites.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Key stakeholders found it difficult to find specific information about industrial products.

Our marketing team found it difficult to market specific products and generate sales leads.

FLEXIMAKE website was not responsive at all, generates errors, and hard to do online marketing.

I suspected these problems were due to poor design of the website, as both product categories – leisure products and industrial products were in the same site which didn’t seem to gel together.

HYPOTHESIS

I believed by separating and categorising into industries, will solve the problem and remove pain points. Creating individual channels will help to the marketing team to market products to targeted customers more efficiently.

PROJECT GOALS

Make stakeholders experience easier to find what they want.

Increase usability of the FLEXIMAKE site for both internal & external customers.

Build the confidence FLEXIMAKE can do large-scale specialised projects with Australian leading organisations.

USER RESEARCH

Stakeholder interviews

I interviewed 5 stakeholders from industrial sector.
I conducted an online survey randomly selecting 50 customers.
Analysed large amount of data from marketing team by using Salesforce data.

Project owner interviews

I interviewed 3 project managers at large scale projects like Metro Tunnel, Covalent Lithium by using “Hangouts” for video conferencing.

Consumer research

I used a form for 20 consumers to fill out as a research tool.

“The website is dated and hard to navigate on the phone.”

“Can’t find exact information for specific products.”

“Lots of errors when trying to do something.”

AFFINITY MAPPING

We wrote everything we found from our researches on post-it notes and start categorising accordingly.

CARD SORTING

Few stakeholders were participated for this workshop.
Based on the results of the above process I decided to separate channels as business needs – FLEXIMAKE main website was redesigned for branding purposes only and FM Industrial for industrial needs.

PERSONAS

I created 2 personas each for FLEXIMAKE and FM Industrial and one persona each for rest of the channels.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE

I created each site map for main websites, making them simple and minimalised levels.

USER FLOWS

FM Industrial user flow is a series of steps a user takes to achieve the goals we defined. I created multiple user flows for each website as simple user flows make it easier to understand the process.

PAPER PROTOTYPE & USABILITY TESTING

I completed paper prototyping very quickly and started testing with other teams.

UI DESIGNS

After finalising prototypes I started working on interfaces and released UI designs weekly. I was working closely with our developers to achieve the final UI development. I was able to create design guide lines and colour schemes for FLEXIMAKE. I considered typography is a main element of all our websites and products.
